Potato Town Gallery

I’ve been invited to show current work at Potato Town Gallery by painter Pam Franklin, during her Artweeks exhibition. You can also learn more about my summer programme classes in the Potato Town studio >

Opening times

Every day Saturday 18th May to Sunday 26th May, 12 noon to 6pm. Plenty of parking.

Find Potato Town

It isn’t a town. It’s a small Cotswold stone barn and cottage on the A361 between Chipping Norton and Banbury, opposite the Swerford turn. The postcode is OX7 4AP, but SatNavs and map pins don’t always pinpoint Potato Town accurately.

If travelling from Banbury direction on A361/Banbury Road, look for The Boxing Hare pub (on the right) and start indicating to turn left. 200m after the pub, turn in left at the far side of the Potato Town barn, opposite the Swerford turn.

If travelling from Chipping Norton direction on A361/Banbury Road, Potato Town is on the right, opposite the second turn to Swerford. Turn in right, this side, the nearer side. of the barn. If you overshoot, turn around at The Boxing Hare after 200m on your left, and try again from the other direction.

If travelling from Oxford direction, take the A44 towards Evesham. Near Enstone (and virtually opposite garage), turn right onto Tew Road/B4022, and keep going for about 9 miles to the T-junction. Turn left onto the A361. You’ll see The Boxing Hare pub on your right shortly (start indicating left now) and Potato Town is on the left 200m further on. Turn in at the far side of the barn, from this direction.

Ella Clocksin and Jane Strother

Both contemporary painters’ work concerns landscapes that have long borne the marks of human activity or intervention. Their responses to human marks in the environment are mediated through their individual sensibilities in composition, colour, mark-making and degrees of abstraction.

This is a return to The Old Fire Engine House Gallery for Clocksin and Strother who, unknown to each other at the time, have both shown here in the past when they lived in Cambridgeshire. They now run studios in neighbouring roads in Oxford.

The Gallery is open daily during the show:

10.30am — 10.30pm Mon-Sat
12 — 5pm Sundays
