The Old Fire Engine House Gallery, Ely, CB7 4ER

30 January - 29 February 2020

Both painters’ work concerns landscapes that have long borne the marks of human activity or intervention. Their responses to human mark-making in the environment are mediated through their individual approaches to visual mark-making, colour and degrees of abstraction.

This is a return to The Old Fire Engine House Gallery for the two artists who, unknown to each other at the time, both exhibited here in the past when they lived in Cambridgeshire. They now run professional studios on neighbouring roads in Oxford.

The Gallery is open daily during the show:

10.30am — 10.30pm Mon-Sat
12 — 5pm Sundays

NB: map pins and SatNavs do not usually pinpoint Potato Town accurately!

If travelling from the Banbury direction on A361/Banbury Road, look for The Boxing Hare pub (on the right) and start indicating to turn left.

200m after the pub, turn in left at the far side of the Potato Town barn, opposite the Swerford turn.

If travelling from the Chipping Norton direction on A361/Banbury Road, Potato Town is on the right, opposite the second turn to Swerford.

Turn in right at the nearer side of the barn when coming from this direction.

If you overshoot, turn around at The Boxing Hare shortly on your left, and try again from the other direction.

If travelling from Oxford, take the A44 towards Evesham. As you enter Enstone, pass a Texaco garage on the left and turn right almost immediately onto Tew Road/B4022.

Follow tthe B4022 for about 9 miles towards The Tews (including across a staggered crossroad) to the T-junction with the A361. Turn left onto the A361 towards Chipping Norton.

You’ll see The Boxing Hare on your right shortly (start indicating left). 200m after the pub, turn in left at the far side of the Potato Town barn, opposite the Swerford turn.
