Mixed media flowers and foliage

Seen at a distance, Waterperry’s exuberant gardens take on abstract/semi-abstract qualities of blocks of colour and pattern. Do them justice with a more abstract approach to composition using watercolour-based mixed media, simplifying detail into bold swathes of colour, texture and pattern. With reference to Tate’s 2019 Bonnard exhibition.

What to expect

* Innovative and effective guided exercises in contemporary watercolour based on the workshop title, and independent work with tutor support. The classes are taught in watercolour with a contemporary feel, sometimes with drawing and mixed media work.

* The price includes high quality, professional grade watercolour paint and paper, and hot drinks. You'll need to bring a picnic lunch and we’ll send you a list of other materials and equipment to bring.

* A friendly atmosphere in mixed experience groups including beginners, rusty returners and experienced artists. We work from direct observation mostly still life and landscape but also your own drawings and source material.

* Group and individual input and feedback, relevant to your experience and aims, from professional artist-tutor with over 19 years' experience of teaching adults.

* Plenty to inspire: Cotswold buildings and landscapes, trees near and far, abundant and overflowing cottage gardens, as well as material in and around the studio.

Terms and conditions

  1. All bookings are made directly through this website, not via Potato Town. Booking a class is understood to confirm your acceptance of the terms and conditions, and also that of anyone else you're booking for.

  2. If you book 3 or more workshops, enter promo code SUMMER19 for a 5% discount at checkout. Be sure to ‘apply’ the code word and see the new discounted total before you continue to pay. If you omit this step, you cannot reclaim the discount later.

  3. Unless you cancel within 14 days of booking, there is no full or part refund because the workshops are one-off, date-specific leisure activities like theatre/sports/festival tickets, with no right to a refund.

  4. If you cannot attend a class, you can sub-let it to a friend if you put me in touch with them first. It may be possible to transfer to another Potato Town summer 2019 class, but this cannot be guaranteed.

  5. Ella Clocksin accepts no liability for loss, damage, or injury arising from booking or attending art classes at Potato Town studios.
