Teaching, workshops & mentoring
I’m taking a break from teaching at the moment to rest, recharge and focus on making new work while recovering from illness.
Thanks for your patience and enthusiasm. If you’re on the mailing list, you’ll be first to hear of new developments.

Blooming Abstract | The Painted Garden
Colour Nuance | Mindful Mark-Making
Thirty Works on a Thursday | Body of Work Project

“Enjoyed the sense of purpose behind what asked to do, without it seeming rigid. Teaching and facilitation at its best. Enjoyed seeing oneself as an artist.”
“During the Body of Work course it made a real difference to be able to focus on a subject that fascinated me. I was gripped. The course changed my whole approach and has built my confidence no end. ”
With 25 years’ experience of independent tutoring adults in the studio and online, my art workshops and courses are content-rich, purposeful and stretching with supportive and incisive feedback.
Using ideas and principles from contemporary and traditional art and diverse visual cultures, you’re encouraged to experiment with new ideas and develop confidence in your own instincts. There’s no ‘house style.’ I teach in watercolour and drawing media, but 95% of the content applies to all media and subjects.
In one-to-one mentoring, we sometimes begin with a portfolio review of your recent work in any medium, but always with close attention to your unique interests, concerns and ambitions for your art-making, and together we identify some next steps, wherever you’re starting from.
