Forest Bathing (and related works on paper), 2021-22

The Japanese have a word for it. Shinrin-yoku.

Forest bathing is being profoundly refreshed and renewed among trees.

And the Welsh have a phrase for it. Dod yn ôl at fy nghoed means to ‘return to a balanced state of mind,’ but it’s literally ‘to return to my trees’ (Robert Macfarlane, Twitter 20.05.20).

These paintings were made en plein air in remaining ancient forest on Shotover Hill, near Oxford.
